The City of York Council has approved GHT Developments plans for a £165million mixed use redevelopment of the former Terry’s Chocolate factory in York.
Plans for the site include the reuse of four listed buildings, including the iconic Terry’s Clock Tower. The proposals also include new and refurbished offices, two hotels, shops, bars, cafés and restaurants and more than 250 homes.
Construction work is expected to start later in the year.
Kraft Foods closed the factory in September 2005, bringing to an end more than a century of chocolate making in York by Terry's, which began production in 1886.
