The Harris Partnership is set to bring forward a £1 million extension to Kingswood Retail Park in Hull.
Building work is due to commence this month on the extension which, when complete, will become home to Costa, Subway and Greggs. It is anticipated the new retailers will be trading by December.
The Harris Partnership, which is acting as lead architect and secured planning permission on behalf of Park owners British Land, has designed the new refreshment facilities to ensure maximum visibility to all shoppers visiting the retail centre.
Michael Schorah, director of the Harris Partnership, said: “We have designed the new facilities with shoppers in mind. The curved canopy will provide shade and shelter for outdoor dining, whilst the large totem sign will ensure the eateries are clearly visible from across the Park.”
A number of national chains currently operate from the Park, which is located to the North of Hull city centre. Current retailers include Comet, Argos, Boots, Brantano, Asda, JD Sports, Holiday Hypermarket, WHSmith, and Matalan.
Schorah continues; “Kingswood Retail Park has been operating for many years without dedicated refreshment amenities, which means once shoppers are in need of some respite, they tend to leave the shopping park. The new amenities will benefit retailers and shoppers alike, promoting movement around the park and providing convenient facilities which will ultimately encourage shoppers to stay longer.”
The Harris Partnership is no stranger to Hull. The practice is responsible for some of the cities key developments, including The Junction Retail Park and the Aldi store on Beverley Road.
Later this year, the award-winning architects will bring forward a brand new leisure development for Hull-based Wykeland Developments on Pryme Street, to the North of the city centre. Once completed, the scheme will include a striking 80-bed Travelodge with parking and restaurant facilities.
