Morrisons store opens in Willenhall

3 February 2010

A new £30million Morrisons store has opened in Willenhall in the Black Country -creating more than 300 new jobs in the town.

Work started on the site of the former Yale lockworks on Wood Street last year and now the 78,671 square foot store has welcomed its first shoppers.

The store also has a petrol filling station and a 541 space car park.

It is hoped the development, brought forward by Dransfield Properties, will kickstart further regeneration in this part of Willenhall.

Managing director of Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield, said: "We have worked with Morrisons on a number of sites around the country and we are delighted that this latest development in Willenhall has now opened.

"The area badly needed a new supermarket with most people leaving the area to do their food shopping. "
